PROFESSIONAL HISTORY

October 2005-November 2006: Art Director, Troma Entertainment
As Art Director for Troma Entertainment, the longest running Independent film studio in history and home to such cult classics as The Toxic Avenger and Cannibal! The Musical, I was in charge of and oversaw from concept to completion all art, graphic, or printing-related projects for the company including DVD and CD packaging and design, trade/print advertisements, promotional materials and posters. In addition I worked with a number of modeling agencies coordinating promotional photo shoots and Troma.com's monthly "Tromette of the Month" section, featuring models actresses working in the horror film genre.

July 2006-current: Associate Producer / Art Director for Nothing Sacred
For Merlion Entertainment's newest feature film production, Nothing Scared, which features such internationally renowned actors as Thierry Lhermitte, William Sadler and Phillipe Nahon, I am delegated responsibilities by the director and the producers essential to the project, such as securing named talent and helping to organize certain key sequences in the film. In addition to the producing duties, I coordinated all art department needs during production, such as obtaining/renting and/or creating props, as well as set design and construction for sequences shot in studio.

June 2006-October 2006: Art Director / Production Designer for Kickball! The Movie
I was hired in June '06 by indie filmmakers Blake Monahan and Jeremy Howell to handle all art department needs for their debut comedy feature Kickball! The Movie (produced by Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz). On set I wore many hats, doing everything from costume and production design to propmaster and special fx coordination.

March 2006-November 2006: Additional Art Direction / Music Supervisor, Poultrygeist! Night of the Chicken Dead
As Art Director for Troma Entertainment I handled all post-production art department needs for their newest 35mm film, Poultrygeist! Night of the Chicken Dead, such as logo/poster design, promotional materials, etc. As a music supervisor for the post production, I spent time searching out artists to donate or record original music for use in the film, as well as for use in the CD release of the soundtrack.

May 2006-November 2006: Director of Viral Marketing, Troma Entertainment
At Troma Entertainment I developed a strategy for viral marketing, uploading video clips on various video websites, such as YouTube.com and MySpace.com as a vehicle for free and effective marketing. Using AVID and Final Cut I would pull segments from our popular films and edit them together for the Internet, after which I would give them to my viral video team to upload to a list of various sites I had compiled. I also would orchestrate the creation and maintenance of our various MySpace profiles.

2005-2006: Assistant to Producer for Nightmare
As an assistant to the producer of Nightmare, Morgan Pehme, I coordinated and implemented publicity strategies for Merlion Entertainment's recently completed feature film. Working under the producer's supervision, I developed approaches to build awareness of the film at festivals and conventions and increase the movie's word-of-mouth profile on industry and fan-oriented websites, chat rooms, and message boards. Thereafter, I employed my team's resources to execute the publicity and advertising strategies we devised.

2004-2005: Intern for Merlion Entertainment
Working as an intern for Merlion Entertainment, a New York City-based independent film production company, I experienced and participated in virtually every aspect of the film industry from development to post-production. Under the tutelage of the CEO, I served as everything from a script reader and production assistant to researcher and creative consultant.

2004- current:  Independent short film director
Under the banner of my own production company, Portis Inc., I have produced, written, directed, and edited several short films and documentaries. In addition I have worked on many other short films, including directing a segment of Airon Armstrong Productions' Black & White kung fu/action saga.
